Tentative Agreement Highlights

The CWA-IBT Bargaining Committee reached a Tentative Agreement with American Airlines on December 6, 2023. The CWA-IBT Association is currently working on releasing the full details of the tentative agreement, which will be made available soon.

Below are the highlights of the negotiated Tentative Agreement:

Signing Bonus

$200 per year of service, with a minimum of $1,000 per employee.

Wages

Immediate hourly pay increases between 10% - 42%

May 1, 2024 – 3% increase in the pay scales.

May 1, 2025 - 3% increase in the pay scales.

May 1, 2026 – 3% increase in the pay scales.

May 1, 2027 – 3% increase in the pay scales.

*Customer Service Agent and Reservation Representative (OBR & HBR) making the same

Premiums

Airports – Increase CSC and PGSC increased premium to $3/hour.

Reservations – AAV included in the Elite premium.

Overtime

  • First day of mandatory overtime will be paid at one and half (1.5) times the employee’s regular rate.
  • For the second (2nd) and subsequent consecutive day of mandatory overtime will be paid at two (2) times the employee’s regular rate.
  • Overtime bypass pay for employee that was bypassed for overtime.

Vacation

Sixth (6th) week of vacation accrual after twenty-nine (29) or more years of service. Begin accruing in second year to use in the third (3rd) year of the agreement.

401(K)

Employer maximum 401(K) contribution increased to 9%:

  • New employer direct 401(K) contributions of 5% (no employee contribution required)
  • 100% employer match on employees first 4% contributions

Insurance

No change to medical benefits during the term of the agreement, however the Company may decrease the employee contributions to the Core plan at its discretion.

Retirement

  • Sick Bank increased to 1,600 hours (currently 1,400 hours).
  • Retirement Health Retirement Account (RHRA) 50% sick bank upon retirement or sick bank payout at $9.20/hour.

Scope

Airports:

  • No changes – maintain status quo.
  • No station outsourcing for the life of the agreement.
  • Job protection for airport team members on the passenger service seniority list as of date of signing (DOS).

Reservations:

  • No HBR Cap.
  • Maintain physical locations in DFW, RDU, and PHX geographic areas for the life of the 5-year agreement.
  • 10% of domestic reservation calls to be handled by non-covered individuals during the first two (2) years of the agreement, increased to 15% in the third, fourth and fifth years.
  • 10% of CHAT work will now be performed by the Union.
  • Job protection for reservations team members on the passenger service seniority list as of date of signing (DOS).

Furlough

A no furlough clause for all members on the seniority list at the date of signing.

Recall

Recall rights extended to 10 years.

Laws

All state or local sick leave law currently followed by the Company as to CWA-IBT members will not be waived during the term of this agreement.

Duration (Term of the Agreement):

Five (5) year agreement, with a 300-day early opener clause to bargaining before the amendable date.
