Healthcare Update

The CWA-IBT Association submitted a proposal to American Airlines for a different healthcare plan from the Teamsters Health and Welfare Fund, which would provide enhanced benefits to employees. American has in good faith met with the union and the consultants of the plan to ask questions and get more information. The complexities and impact of creating a new healthcare plan, which both parties can agree upon, have made it impossible to implement anything before 2018.  

While we are continuing to meet with the company to answer their questions and concerns in order to get a new healthcare plan, no agreements have been made with the company at this point. Therefore the healthcare plan implemented next year will be the American Airlines Plan. The plan will be provided pursuant to the contract.
