Dues Adjustments for Members on Voluntary Leave or Buyouts

CWA has worked with American Airlines to reduce union dues for members currently on leave. This has been a difficult task that required many individual adjustments.

In order to speed up the process, we will pause all dues deductions for members in these groups and then turn the deductions back on when most members in that group should be returning to work.

This is not a perfect system but is the best solution available to provide quick relief to members who have taken leave. This is how the pause will work:

  • If you accepted a three-month leave, your dues will no longer be deducted as of the May 22, 2020, paycheck. Your dues deduction will resume on July 13, 2020.
  • If you accepted a six-month leave, your dues will no longer be deducted as of June 1, 2020. Your dues deduction will resume on October 19, 2020.
  • If you accepted a twelve-month leave or took a VEOP with the twelve-month pay option, your dues will no longer be deducted as of August 10, 2020. Your dues will resume on April 19, 2021.
